RICARDO PONCESound Design • records, engineers, and mixes audio as well as composes original music for SLF projects. The Buenos Aires-born-and-raised artist was lead vocalist, guitarist, and principal composer for the alternative rock band Planta, a fixture on Gotham's indie scene, for two decades, since he founded it shortly after moving to NYC in 2003. Ricardo and his Planta collaborator Marcelo Domínguez create original content for M&R Music Revolution. Before replanting in New York, Ponce studied bass as well as musical theory, composition, and arrangement at the Instituto Tecnológico de Música Contemporánea in Buenos Aires, where he produced two albums of his own work as well as one for the group Salmasis. In NYC, Ponce founded Brokentime Studio where he has produced recordings by Victoria Gutiérrez, Estéban en Armas, Marcelo Domínguez and the band Nectar's album Jump the Fence (2008), on which he also performs, as well as two Planta albums: Unwind (2013) and Keep the Light on (2015). Ricardo is a central figure in the operation of Terraza 7 –– the renowned music venue in Elmhurst, Queens –– where he has tended bar and organized shows since 2007. He lives with his two daughters in Jackson Heights.
